Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Technical Officer / Technologist to support and deliver specialised design, optimisation, and fault-resolution services across NBN and telecommunications networks. This role is hands-on and technical, focusing on network performance, diagnostics, infrastructure development, and ongoing operational support.

You will play a key role in ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance of complex telecommunications systems while working closely with internal teams, vendors, and external service providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, test, and diagnose faults across telecommunications and NBN-related systems, including communication networks

  • Configure and integrate telecommunications networks with computer software, hardware, operating systems, desktops, peripherals, and databases

  • Monitor, analyse, and optimise the performance of customer access networks and associated infrastructure

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and resolve network performance malfunctions, defects, and faults

  • Provide technical advice, guidance, and escalation support on complex network and equipment issues

  • Plan and support the development and expansion of customer access network infrastructure

  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for equipment, inventories, locations, faults, and system statuses

  • Ensure compliance with communication policies, procedures, guidelines, regulations, and quality standards

  • Liaise with vendors, suppliers, service providers, and external stakeholders, monitoring contractual performance and service delivery

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across network design, optimisation, and operational processes

Skill & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience working on NBN or large-scale telecommunications networks

  • Strong knowledge of network diagnostics, fault finding, and performance monitoring

  • Experience with network configuration, system integration, and infrastructure planning

  • Ability to read and maintain technical documentation and network records

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders
