We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded General Accountant to join our growing team in Perth. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working across financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, compliance, and business analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, improving financial processes, and providing management with timely and meaningful financial insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets using Xero and present financial reports to management to support strategic decision-making
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for projects and overall business operations, and monitor actual performance against budget
  • Conduct end-of-month cost reviews, project margin analysis, and variance analysis to identify financial trends and opportunities
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Monitor and manage company cash flow to maintain adequate operational funding
  • Prepare financial data and BAS working papers and liaise with external accountants for statutory lodgements and compliance requirements
  • Prepare and lodge payroll and superannuation tax obligations with relevant authorities
  • Review and approve invoices, expenses, and payments while maintaining effective internal control procedures
  • Calculate customer charge-out rates to support targeted profitability outcomes
  • Conduct financial risk assessments and evaluate cash flow implications relating to operational and capital expenditure decisions
  • Process weekly payroll and ensure compliance with taxation and superannuation obligations
  • Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and improving accounting systems and reporting processes
  • Support year-end audit activities and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy of financial statements

Skill & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • CPA or CA qualification (or working towards qualification) preferred
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a similar accounting role
  • Strong experience using Xero
  • Sound understanding of Australian accounting standards, BAS, payroll tax, and superannuation requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
