About the Role

The Environmental Engineer will play a critical role in delivering complex environmental and techno-economic modelling projects across the energy, mining, and industrial sectors. This position requires a highly experienced professional with a strong technical background in environmental engineering, sustainability, environmental science, and engineering analysis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering advanced environmental modelling and strategic analysis related to decarbonisation pathways, emissions reduction strategies, renewable energy integration, environmental impact mitigation, and industrial optimisation.

This role is suited to an individual who not only possesses strong technical and analytical expertise, but also has established professional connections within the Australian energy and mining sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain environmental and integrated energy-environmental models for buildings, industrial systems, mining operations, and infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments, energy performance analysis, simulations, and forecasting.
  • Support sustainability and decarbonisation strategies for clients and internal projects.
  • Analyse energy and environmental performance data and identify efficiency improvement opportunities.
  • Perform carbon emissions assessments, environmental evaluations, and lifecycle analysis.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and modelling documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and sustainability teams.
  • Evaluate renewable energy systems and environmental integration opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian environmental, energy, and sustainability standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to research and innovation initiatives related to environmental engineering and sustainable systems.

Skill & Experience

 

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree required in Environmental Engineering and/or Environmental Science.
  • Demonstrated expertise in environmental and techno-economic modelling for energy transition, renewable energy, mining, or industrial decarbonisation projects.
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, carbon economics, emissions accounting, and sustainability frameworks.
  • Knowledge of GRI and ISO standards.
  • Demonstrated work on decarbonisation roadmaps for mining operations or heavy industry.
  • Advanced experience with integrated environmental and techno-economic modelling frameworks.
  • Proven experience working with clients or stakeholders in the energy and mining sectors.
  • Advanced proficiency in environmental modelling, simulation, and analytical software.
  • Candidates are expected to have established European industry connections and demonstrate proficiency in multiple languages (minimum 3 languages preferred).
  • Strong commercial, analytical, and strategic problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience preparing high-level technical reports and strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

 

Required Skills

  • Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, GIS and GaBi.
  • Experience in renewable energy and environmental engineering.
  • Understanding of ESG reporting and climate-related risk assessments.
  • Project management or consulting experience.
