Job Description

We’re seeking a talented Chef de Partie to join the team at The Kitchen, our flagship venue on the Mornington Peninsula.This full-time role is ideal if you thrive in a busy yet well-organised kitchen, have a passion for working with fresh local produce, and want to be part of a genuinely supportive, collaborative team.Our menus are seasonal and ever-changing, with chefs encouraged to contribute creative ideas. You’ll work closely with an experienced leadership team (Executive Chef, Head Chef, and Sous Chef) who prioritise collaboration, creativity, and straightforward, high-quality food without unnecessary complexity.We foster a professional but relaxed kitchen culture — no egos, just good people focused on great results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking dishes to a high standard using fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients
  • Maintaining your workstation efficiently, including mise en place, inventory tracking, cleanliness, and organisation
  • Executing menu items consistently during busy service periods
  • Collaborating with the team to bring creative ideas to seasonal menus
  • Staying calm and effective under pressure when the kitchen is at full capacity (e.g., full docket rail)
  • Contributing to overall kitchen standards, quality, and teamwork

Skill & Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar Chef de Partie (or equivalent station chef) role
  • A genuine love for quality food and a strong preference for using fresh, local ingredients
  • Excellent teamwork skills and pride in the dishes you produce
  • The ability to remain composed and perform well in a high-pressure, fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and passion for seasonal, creative cooking
