Job Description

Seeking full-time Cooks

We are currently seeking for experienced Cooks to join our restaurant establishment on a full-time basis. Our busy restaurant is located in Canning Vale WA which serves a range of popular Malaysian cuisines to dine-in customers.

The successful candidates must be available to work both day and night shifts as well as weekends, have in-depth knowledge of various popular Malaysian cuisines, have at least 12 months of relevant employment experience working in similar busy commercial kitchen operation, and possess qualifications which are at least equivalent to an Australian Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.

The offered salary will be $76,750 per annum plus Superannuation.

The duties to be carried out by the successful candidates will include:

· Ensure that all food and portions served to the customers are consistently of the highest quality in line with the standards set by Company.

· Prepare, cook, present and serve the food in accordance to the customers’ orders.

· Monitor the quality of food preparation, presentation and service.

· Assist in checking the kitchen and report any problems to the Head Chef or Restaurant Manager.

· Assist in stock control and checking deliveries.

· Supervise and train junior kitchen staff whenever required.

· Ensure that the required standards of OH&S, cleanliness and hygiene are carried out and maintained in all food areas in accordance with the Company’s prescribed standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and present authentic Malaysian dishes to a consistently high standard

  • Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with recipes, portion controls and presentation standards

  • Maintain quality control over food preparation and service

  • Monitor kitchen operations to ensure efficiency during busy service periods

  • Assist the Head Chef in supervising junior kitchen staff

  • Support stock control, ordering and checking deliveries

  • Maintain cleanliness, food safety and hygiene standards in line with OH&S requirements

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and kitchen procedures

  • Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment

Skill & Experience

  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in a busy commercial kitchen

  • Proven experience preparing Malaysian cuisine

  • Relevant qualification at least equivalent to Australian Certificate III in Commercial Cookery

  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health & safety regulations

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends

  • Team-oriented with good communication skills

  • High attention to detail and commitment to food quality
