WE ARE HIRING 1 RETAIL BUYER

We’re looking for a passionate Retail Buyer to join our team at An Nam Market Plus Liquor in Footscray – a well-known Asian grocery destination serving the local community with authentic products and great value.

Located in the heart of Footscray, our store operates in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment with strong daily trade and peak periods around weekends and cultural festivals. This role is perfect for someone who understands Asian grocery products, enjoys working closely with suppliers, and wants to play a real part in shaping what customers see on the shelves every day.

About the role:

As our Retail Buyer, you will be responsible for selecting and purchasing products for resale, making sure our range reflects customer preferences, cultural authenticity, and strong commercial outcomes. You’ll work closely with management and suppliers to keep stock moving, margins healthy, and customers coming back.

Key Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing:

  • Reviewing sales data and stock levels to understand what sells, what doesn’t, and what customers are asking for.
  • Sourcing, inspecting, and selecting Asian grocery products, including packaged foods, beverages, and specialty items.
  • Negotiating prices, promotions, and supply terms with local and overseas suppliers.
  • Planning product ranges and purchase quantities to suit seasonal demand, festivals, and budget requirements.
  • Supporting pricing, promotional, and in-store display strategies.
  • Working with the director on sales forecasting, buying plans, and longer-term growth strategies.
  • Keeping up to date with food trends, new products, and changing customer tastes.

Skill & Experience

Skills, experience and qualifications We are looking for someone who has:

  • At least Bachelor or a related field
  • At least 5 years of relevant retail buying experience
  • Experience or strong interest in Asian grocery products and multicultural retail environments.
  • Good organisational and negotiation skills, with attention to detail.
  • A team-oriented attitude and the ability to work well in a busy store environment.
  • A customer-first mindset and genuine passion for food, retail, and sales.
