Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, energetic, well organised and experienced Veterinary Nurse or Technician to join our dynamic, fun-spirited team. At Timbertown Vet, we pride ourselves on a positive, supportive workplace culture that encourages personal and professional growth.

FAMILY OWNED AND INDEPENDENT:

Timbertown Veterinary Hospital in the NSW Mid North Coast.  Our purpose-built, small animal hospital is exceptionally well equipped. In 2025, we invested in new advanced diagnostic equipment, and we regularly host a travelling surgeon for complex soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures. We practise high-quality, low-stress veterinary care with exceptional client communication in a genuinely happy, supportive work environment.  Our sister clinic is just 20 minutes drive away in the coastal town of Bonny Hills. Across both clinics, we have a team of 8 Vets, 2 Vet Techs and 7 Vet Nurses, and we are fully integrated with  EzyVet.

Key Responsibilities

-Day-to-day nursing and technical support duties, including anaesthesia monitoring, post-operative care and diagnostic procedures

-Coordinating key aspects of the running of the hospital, including administrative support, bookings, inventory management, ordering and laboratory equipment maintenance

-Supporting and directing less experienced nursing staff and students

-Delivering high quality care and support to colleagues, clients and patients

Skill & Experience

-Qualifications and training equivalent to a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Technologist qualification, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.

-Demonstrated knowledge and experience in low‑stress husbandry, handling, restraint and care of animals, particularly dogs and cats, but also native wildlife, birds and pocket pets.

– A commitment to animal welfare and demonstrated competence in all aspects of medical and surgical nursing, including anaesthesia monitoring, intubation, blood collection, intravenous catherisation, diagnostic clinical pathology techniques.

-A demonstrated commitment to professional conduct characterised by openness, respectfulness and integrity to clients and team members

-Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage positively and thoughtfully with clients and colleagues, person to person and over the phone including in more challenging situations, for example an unhappy client or a work colleagues with a differing opinion.

-Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and use practice management and standard office software, most particularly EzyVet.

– Experience in or ability to undertake practice management tasks such as day-to-day nurse management, rosters, training, team building and policy development.

-A current open driver’s licence.
