About the Role

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Mobile Plant Operator to join their dynamic operations team. This role requires a skilled professional with comprehensive knowledge of heavy plant operation across various agricultural and earthmoving applications. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in equipment handling, attachment management, and preventive maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and productivity across our client’s diverse operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Site Work:

Safely operate mobile plant equipment (tractors, loaders, excavators, spray rigs) across cropping, livestock and horticultural sites.
Maneuver machinery across varied terrains, including paddocks, irrigation areas and new horticultural blocks.
Assist with land preparation, seeding, fertilizing and crop maintenance following sustainable practices.

Attachment Handling & Precision Work:

Fit and operate attachments (slashers, seeders, loaders, post drivers) for tasks like fencing, feed prep and soil conditioning.
Adjust hydraulic, mechanical and electronic controls to ensure precise operation of implements-critical for tasks like controlled traffic farming (CTF) and pasture renovation.
Assist livestock operations including hay baling, silage handling, and feed-out processes.

Equipment Monitoring & Maintenance:

Conduct pre-start checks, monitor gauges/telematics and perform routine servicing (e.g., greasing, fluid top-ups, filter changes) to maintain machinery performance.
Identify minor faults, carry out basic repairs, and report major issues.
Follow safety standards and manufacturer guidelines at all times.

Team Collaboration & Autonomous Work:

Coordinate with supervisors and teams on tasks like irrigation, weed control and projects.
Work independently in remote tasks while maintaining communication.
Support seasonal work and development projects (e.g., orchards, vineyards).

Skill & Experience

Relevant Qualification + minimum 3 years of full-time experience operating mobile plant in farming environments.
Proficiency with tractors, loaders, and attachments; familiarity with precision agriculture tools (e.g., GPS guidance) is advantageous.
Strong adherence to WorkSafe standards and farm-specific safety protocols.
Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working long hours during peak seasons (e.g., harvest, seeding).
Willingness to contribute to a collaborative farming operation with a focus on regenerative agriculture and land stewardship.

Desirable Attributes:

Experience in broadacre cropping (wheat, barley, canola) or livestock support operations (feed logistics, pasture management).
Exposure to horticultural machinery (e.g., vine pruners, harvesters) or interest in diversifying into tree crops.
HR/MR truck license (for machinery relocation between properties).
