ABOUT HIKMA HOUSE

Hikma House is a registered NDIS service provider dedicated to delivering safe, high-quality, and affordable disability housing and support services to participants across Melbourne. Established in 2017, we specialize in Supported Independent Living (SIL), Complex Care, Out-of-Home Care, and Forensic Care services.

With multiple accommodation properties and support locations across Melbourne, Hikma House serves individuals with diverse disability support needs. Our mission is to empower participants by promoting independence, offering flexibility, and giving them the freedom to make choices that enhance their quality of life.

We work across the Brimbank Melton, Hume Moreland, Inner Eastern Melbourne, and Northeastern Melbourne service districts, supporting participants to live more empowered and meaningful lives.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a caring, reliable aged & disabled carer to join our team. You’ll provide direct support to NDIS participants, helping them with daily activities and contributing to their quality of life and independence.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll make a real impact every day. You’ll work as part of a supportive team, providing person-centered care that respects each participant’s choices and dignity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Personal Hygiene: Assist clients with personal grooming, bathing, dressing, and essential hygiene care.
  • Mobility Support: Safely assist clients with physical movement, tracking, and manual transfers.
  • Domestic Assistance: Perform household tasks including cleaning, vacuuming, and laundry to ensure a safe living space.
  • Nutrition Management: Prepare food and nutritious meals tailored to specific dietary requirements; assist with feeding.
  • Social & Community Care: Accompany clients during daily activities, arrange social outings, and manage transport to medical appointments.
  • Emotional Well-being: Provide dedicated companionship, friendship, and psychological support.
  • Health & Specialised Care: Monitor health changes, assist with medication administration, and implement positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Live-In Arrangements: Provide live-in care and overnight support where required by client needs.

Skill & Experience

Essential Requirements:

  • Skill Level 3: AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, AQF Certificate IV, or at least three years of relevant experience
  • Minimum 1 year of full-time direct care experience in Aged Care, Disability Support, Community Care, or NDIS services 
  • Strong demonstrated commitment to person-centred, compassionate care
  • Ability to provide physical assistance and manual handling safely using correct techniques
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal 
  • Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative, as well as part of a collaborative team
  • Experience working with individuals with complex needs, behaviours of concern, or diverse backgrounds preferred

Mandatory Requirements:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (Essential) – must pass clearance
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate (Current and valid)
  • Working with Children Check (Desirable)—required for roles working with young people
  • Valid rights to work in Australia .
  • Must be under 45 years of age at time of visa application
