Position Overview

 

The Residential Care Officer at Tender Loving Care Disability Services is responsible for delivering person-centred, goal-driven support aligned with individual NDIS plans. This includes assessing client needs, developing and implementing tailored programs, and promoting independence, inclusion, and wellbeing.

The role involves close collaboration with clients, families, and community networks to monitor progress, address challenges, and connect individuals with appropriate services and resources. The Residential Care Officer also supports compliance, stakeholder engagement, and service evaluation to ensure high-quality, empowering outcomes for all participants.

  • Assessing clients’ needs and planning, developing and implementing educational, training and support programs.

  • Interviewing clients and assessing the nature and extent of difficulties.

  • Monitoring and reporting on the progress of clients.

  • Referring clients to agencies that can provide additional help.

  • Assessing community need and resources for health, welfare, housing, employment, training and other facilities and services.

  • Liaising with community groups, welfare agencies, government bodies and private businesses about community issues and promoting awareness of community resources and services.

  • Supporting families and providing education and care for children and disabled persons in adult service units, group housing and government institutions.

  • Supervising offenders on probation and parole.

  • Assisting young people to solve social, emotional and financial problems.

  • Preparing submissions for funding and resources, and reports to government bodies and other agencies.

Skill & Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant experience supporting people with intellectual and/or complex disabilities.

  • Experience coordinating individualised supports in line with NDIS plans.

  • Strong understanding of NDIS frameworks, funding and community systems.

  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.

  • High-level administrative and documentation abilities.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Competency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (e.g. Care Vision).

  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence.

  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certification.

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check.

    Desirable Criteria

    • Formal qualifications in Social Work, Disability, Welfare, Education, or Allied Health.

    • Previous experience in a supervisory role.

    • Familiarity with person-centred and trauma-informed frameworks.

    • Experience in program evaluation and compliance auditing.

    • Previous involvement in continuous improvement or strategic planning.
