Wall & Floor Tiler

We are in need of a Full-time Wall and Floor Tiler who will work with us for 38 hours per week with a base compensation of $79,499 – $85,000 per annum based on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Inspecting surfaces to lay tiles and cutting and shaping tiles to fit measurements and into corner areas

·         Interpreting construction blueprints and plans related to tiling jobs

·         Thoroughly measuring and inspecting the workspace by using measure and laser tools and plan for correct tile size finish before tiling

·         Moving adhesives, tiles, bricks and sands with wheelbarrow to the designated place, before and when tiling and screeding

·         Carrying out all necessary jobs to prepare work area such as inspecting, cleaning tiles before laying them

·         Applying primers onto floor or wall to improve the bonding of tiles to be laid on sandy surfaces before starting tiling.

·         Make sure tiles are shaped, cut and levelled evenly and properly according to the plans when tiling around furniture

·         Spreading grout onto surfaces as needed and cleaning thoroughly with sponge

·         Ensure that laid tiles are well and neatly arranged, and if necessary, adjusting whatever tiles are required

·         Working with tile glue to affix tiles to surfaces

·         Creating decorative enhancements such as tile mosaics by laying tiles in pattern

·         Make sure that better screeding quality or rendering is achieved, cleaning dust and cement dirt on floor and wall

Requirements:

·         Have Certificate 3 in Wall and Floor Tiling and 2 years post-qualification work experience as Wall and Floor Tiler, or without Certificate 3 in Wall and Floor Tiling, a minimum 5-year work experience as Wall and Floor Tiler;

·         Be competent in all aspects of waterproofing;

·         Be willing to travel to remote areas occasionally;

·         Be able to work under minimal supervision and be punctual, trustworthy and reliable;

·         Have a driver’s licence, their own tools and equipment
