The company designs and manufactures its products in-house at its Australian factory, including its high-quality “Fast Tread” stairs and other prefabricated formwork systems, which feature in over 1,000 buildings across Australia and internationally.

The Opportunity

FTI Group is seeking a Sheet Metal Worker to join its team. The role is classified under ANZSCO 322211 – Sheetmetal Trades Worker and is suitable for both local and visa-sponsored applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings to determine project requirements and materials.
  • Work with various metals and materials.
  • Mark out metal sheets.
  • Operate sheet metal plant and equipment, including guillotines, folders and rolling machines.
  • Operate press brakes and other metal drills to cut metal stock to templates/guidelines.
  • Use machine and hand tools throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve production targets and maintain efficiency.
  • Finish components into final products using spot/MIG welding and other joining methods.
  • Ensure OH&S regulations are complied with at all times.

Requirements

  • Completed trade certificate or 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant product and industry knowledge.
  • Previous experience with sheet metal fabrication machinery is advantageous but not required.
  • CNC press brake experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong safety-focused work ethic.
  • Reliable and honest.
  • High initiative, a “can-do” attitude, physically capable, well presented and respectful.
