Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes, including regional curries, tandoori items, snacks, and traditional Indian desserts.
  • Collaborate with the head chef, chef and kitchen team to develop new dishes and refine existing recipes in line with customer preferences and seasonal ingredients.
  • Maintain high standards of food presentation and monitor dish quality throughout all stages of preparation and service.
  • Assist in menu planning by contributing ideas for special items and estimating food and labour costs to support efficient kitchen operations.
  • Operate and regulate ovens, grills, fryers, and tandoor ovens, ensuring correct temperatures and cooking times are followed for optimal results.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene standards as per Australian Food Standards Code and ensure all food handling practices are compliant.
  • Supervise and support junior kitchen staff, contributing to their training and ensuring a smooth kitchen workflow.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels, assist with ordering supplies, and ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations and kitchen equipment, ensuring
  • compliance with WHS and OH&S standards.
  • Liaise with the restaurant’s management team to ensure service consistency and to support operational goals.
  • Assist in the coordination of kitchen activities to ensure timely and quality food service during peak hours.

Skill & Experience

  • Min Cert IV in commercial cookery, Diploma relevant qualification is highly considered.
  • Min one year of experience in the related field is mandatory.
  • Experience cooking all Indian sweet menu items are required.
  • Are available across the working week including weekends and Public Holidays.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, cooking techniques, and kitchen management.
  • Offer proven ability to prioritise, set goals and have the determination to achieve them.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of food safety and HACCP.
  • Understand cost control, time management, prioritization, and cost-efficient procurement practices.
  • Cooking tandoor naan and rotis skills are mandatory.
  • Able to cook all chat foods.
