Job Description

The Allied Health Practice and Operations Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management and performance of the organisation’s occupational and allied health services. The role ensures services operate efficiently, meet quality and compliance requirements, achieve business objectives and deliver positive outcomes for clients, referrers and funding bodies.

The position provides leadership across service delivery, people management, financial performance, operational systems and stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of allied health services.
  • Ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and consistently.
  • Monitor service quality and client outcomes.
  • Identify and implement improvements to service delivery.
  • Lead, support and develop managers and staff.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide regular feedback.
  • Promote a positive, accountable and collaborative workplace culture.
  • Ensure staff receive appropriate training and professional development.
  • Develop, review and maintain operational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, accreditation standards and organisational requirements.
  • Monitor quality indicators and manage continuous improvement activities.
  • Support clinical governance processes where required.
  • Prepare and manage operational budgets.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and sustainability.
  • Contribute to business planning and growth initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with referrers, funding agencies, insurers and community organisations.
  • Work collaboratively with health professionals and external service providers.
  • Represent the organisation at meetings, industry forums and community events.
  • Analyse operational data and prepare management reports.
  • Identify opportunities for new services, partnerships and operational improvements.
  • Support implementation of organisational projects and change initiatives.

Skill & Experience

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in health, business, management or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience managing health, allied health or community services.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and operational performance.
  • Sound understanding of quality systems, governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience within occupational rehabilitation, occupational health or allied health services.
  • Knowledge of workers compensation, injury management or disability service systems.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Project management or change management experience.
