Job Description

Location:    Helensvale, Gold Coast, QLD

Work Type: Full-Time

Wages:         $79,500- $85,000 (in line with experience)

Sector:         Operations & Production Technology

The Opportunity
Our client is a leading name in high-end joinery and construction solutions, currently undergoing a significant technological expansion. As they scale their operations to meet a growing portfolio of large-scale projects, they are seeking a forward-thinking Automation Technician to act as the bridge between traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge manufacturing.

This is a strategic role designed to maximize the efficiency of a brand-new robotic and CNC infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring peak machine uptime, optimizing cycle times, and integrating real-time data diagnostics to drive precision and production volume.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Integration & Programming: Develop and optimize PLC and HMI systems to streamline workflows from design to execution. You will play a key role in robotic orchestration, calibrating assembly arms for high-precision tasks like finishing and sorting.
  • Technical Diagnostics & Maintenance: Act as the primary responder for complex faults across CNC woodworking machinery (cutting, drilling, edge-banding) and automated material handling systems.
  • Predictive Strategy: Implement diagnostic schedules for pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical components to mitigate downtime.
  • Operational Optimization: Use production line data to identify bottlenecks and adjust machine parameters to increase throughput.
  • Growth & Commissioning: Lead the installation and commissioning of new sensors, conveyors, and safety systems as the facility continues its digital transformation.

Skill & Experience

  • Educational Background: Diploma or Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Automation.
  • Industry Expertise: Minimum of 1 years’ experience maintaining high-end CNC machinery (e.g., Homag, Biesse, SCM) and robotic systems (e.g., KUKA, ABB, FANUC).
  • Programming Skills: Proven proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley, or similar) and HMI design.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of pneumatic systems, servo-drives, and industrial networking (EtherCAT, Profinet).
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret complex electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.

Why Apply?

This is a rare chance to work within a facility that is truly embracing the “digital thread” of manufacturing. You will be at the forefront of industrial automation on the Gold Coast, working with a team that values surgical precision and technological innovation.
