Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct daily service checks as detailed by the maintenance team before starting work.
  2. Ensure apprentices receive adequate training within their competency and apprentice level in machining.
  3. Verify by inspecting parts that all previous operations have been accurately complete before beginning your operation from the work schedule.
  4. Inspect your own work, including measurements and tolerances using measuring equipment, before passing on to the next operation.
  5. To set up, operate, maintain, and care for all machines, tooling and equipment used in accordance with the Equipment Manufacturers guidelines and company policy.
  6. Ensure that at the end of your shift, machines, tooling, and equipment is left clean and tidy, and returned to the correct location.
  7. Work as a team member with other section team members, Workshop Manager and Coordinators to schedule work on machines using computerised work in progress (WIP) information and the daily progress list.
  8. Ensure labour and machine cost are entered and that scheduled jobs are completed real time, directly into the computer.
  9. Update job progress using computerised scheduling screens where appropriate.
  10. Work collaboratively and remain flexible to assist operating a variety of machines (Okuma, Mazak, Fanuc), to cover periods of scheduled and unscheduled absenteeism.
  11. Conduct various operations including lathes, milling, grinding, and gear cutting.

Skill & Experience

Requirements:

  • Trade Certificate in Machining
  • Extensive experience in Grinding – high-level skill is highly regarded
  • Experience operating CNC lathes and/or mills
  • Familiarity with Okuma is a plus
  • A strong commitment to precision, safety, and continuous improvement
  • A positive, team-first attitude
