Key Responsibilities

Train and exercise horses to improve their fitness, performance, and behaviour.
Develop training programs suited to each horse’s age, ability, and racing goals.
Monitor horses’ health, fitness, and wellbeing during training.
Assess horse performance and make adjustments to training routines as required.
Prepare horses for races, trials, track work, and other competitions.
Work closely with veterinarians, farriers, and stable staff to maintain horse welfare.
Supervise feeding, grooming, and daily care of horses.
Maintain accurate records of training activities, horse progress, and performance results.
Ensure all training activities comply with racing industry rules, animal welfare standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.
Assist in selecting and evaluating horses for training and competition purposes.

Skill & Experience

Applicants must hold a relevant qualification and have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in horse training, race preparation, and equine care and management.
