Production Horticulturist

About us

We are an established nursery-farm and horticultural production business based in Virginia, South Australia, growing and supplying nursery plants. We are seeking a skilled Production Horticulturist to join the team.

Remuneration & hours

Guaranteed annual salary from $71550 p.a. plus superannuation. Full-time, based on a [46]-hour week — [38] ordinary hours plus approximately [8] hours overtime per week — with the guaranteed annual salary inclusive of overtime. Paid in accordance with the applicable Award; higher rates commensurate with skills and experience

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

Plan and carry out planting, cultivation, irrigation and fertilising programs
Monitor crop and plant health; identify and manage pests, diseases and nutrient needs
Carry out propagation, potting, transplanting and crop maintenance
Monitor growing conditions and adjust practices to optimise yield and quality
Harvest, grade and prepare produce/stock to quality standards
Operate and maintain horticultural equipment
Follow WHS and biosecurity requirements and use personal protective equipment

Skill & Experience

About you

A relevant AQF Certificate III or IV (or equivalent), or equivalent relevant experience as a production horticulturalist
Sound practical horticultural knowledge and plant-handling skills
Able to work outdoors across a range of conditions
Able to follow directions and work in a team
Reliable and safety-focused
