Job Closes Date 30 Days

About the Role
On behalf of our client, a respected 70-bed not-for-profit residential aged care facility in Foster, we are seeking a dedicated Residential Care Officer. Guided by a community board and a mission to provide a dignified life for all in their care, our client is deeply committed to “listening and learning, finding a better way, working as a team, and acting with kindness.” In this role, you will be instrumental in translating these values into daily action, moving beyond generic support to deliver tailored, high-quality care that enhances the wellbeing of every resident.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Holistic Resident Assessment & Individual Planning

  • Thoroughly assess each resident’s physical, emotional, and social needs upon admission and throughout their stay, identifying specific difficulties related to ageing, mobility, or cognition.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate personalized educational, training, and support programs that promote independence and a dignified quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

Care Coordination & Family Support

  • Support families by providing clear education on aged care processes, actively involving them in care decisions, and assisting residents with daily living activities within the secure, group housing environment.
  • Closely monitor each resident’s progress, documenting changes in condition or behaviour, and prepare detailed reports for clinical teams and family members.

Community & Resource Liaison

  • Identify additional services required by residents (e.g., specialist physiotherapy, podiatry, or dementia support) and make professional referrals to external agencies that can provide this supplementary help.
  • Liaise with local community groups, welfare agencies, and government bodies in the Foster region to assess available health, housing, and support resources, promoting awareness of these services to residents and their families.

Emotional & Problem-Solving Support

  • Actively listen to and assist residents in resolving social, emotional, or financial concerns that may affect their wellbeing, always acting with kindness and a collaborative approach.
  • Prepare clear, compliant funding submissions and progress reports for government bodies and other agencies, ensuring the facility continues to adapt to the changing aged-care landscape.

Skill & Experience

  • Relevant qualifications in Aged Care, Community Services, or equivalent (e.g., Certificate IV in Aged Care or Diploma of Community Services).
  • Demonstrated at least 1 year+ of full-time experience in residential aged care, including assessment, care planning, and documentation.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, upholding values of respect and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to support families, liaise with external agencies, and advocate for residents’ needs.
