Job Description
Placed.au is looking for a full-time Carpenter – Modular Wall Systems for our client in St Helena, Victoria. This role is responsible for carrying out carpentry works associated with the construction, installation, repair and maintenance of wall framing, cladding support systems and related building structures. The role involves interpreting construction drawings, measuring, cutting and assembling materials, constructing and preparing frameworks and supporting structures, and fitting exterior wall cladding and associated building components in accordance with project specifications and construction standards.
• Study construction drawings, plans and specifications to determine measurements, materials, set-out requirements and appropriate construction and installation methods for wall framing, cladding and associated building structures.
• Select, measure, mark, cut and shape timber, plywood, lightweight steel and other construction materials to prepare components for wall framing, cladding support systems and associated structures.
• Set out, construct, assemble and erect timber and lightweight framing, battens, supports and other structural components required for external wall and cladding systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Assemble and secure cut and shaped components using appropriate carpentry techniques and mechanical fasteners, including nails, screws, brackets and other fixing systems.
• Prepare and modify wall frameworks and supporting structures to accommodate exterior cladding, windows, doors, openings, corners and other building features in accordance with project plans and specifications.
• Fit and install exterior wall cladding, wall panels, fascia panels and associated components to prepared building frameworks and support structures.
• Measure, cut and adapt cladding and construction components on site to achieve the required dimensions and fit around windows, doors, corners and other building features.
• Install and fit door and window frames and associated carpentry components as required as part of wall and cladding construction works.
• Check the line, level, plumb, dimensions and alignment of frameworks, support structures and installed components to ensure the accuracy and trueness of completed structures.
• Repair, replace and renovate damaged or deteriorated wall framing, cladding support structures, fixtures and other carpentry components as required.
• Use hand tools, power tools and carpentry equipment to carry out cutting, shaping, assembly, installation and repair work across residential and commercial construction projects.
Skill & Experience
• Must hold a Certificate III in Carpentry or a relevant qualification, or at least three (3) years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
• Must possess at least three (3) years of relevant work experience as a Carpenter, Cladding Carpenter or in a closely related role.
• Demonstrated experience with wall framing, cladding support systems and exterior wall cladding.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.
• Proficient in measuring, marking, cutting, shaping and assembling timber, plywood, lightweight steel and other construction materials.
• Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and mechanical fixing systems.
• Ability to accurately install cladding, wall panels, fascia panels, door frames and window frames.
• Strong understanding of line, level, plumb, dimensions and structural alignment.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and carpentry equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt materials and structures to suit site requirements.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across residential and commercial construction projects.
$75,000 – $100,000 per annum excluding superannuation.
