Job Description

Placed.au is looking for a full-time Furniture Maker for our client in Dandenong South, Victoria. This role is responsible for fabricating, assembling, finishing, and repairing furniture and hospitality products to a high standard of quality, accuracy, and presentation.

Job Description

• Examine drawings, work orders, specifications, and sample components to determine materials, dimensions, construction methods, and production requirements.

• Select and work with timber, veneers, laminates, particle board, synthetic wood, and other engineered wood products.

• Measure, mark, cut, shape, and prepare materials using appropriate hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.

• Fabricate and assemble furniture components and completed hospitality furniture according to drawings and specifications.

• Construct and assemble furniture used in hospitality environments, including tables, service stations, buffet furniture, banquet furniture, and other customised products.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble prepared components to ensure accurate alignment, structural integrity, and a high-quality finished product.

• Fit hardware including hinges, locks, catches, drawers, shelves, brackets, and other associated fittings.

• Apply appropriate finishes and protective coatings to furniture and components to achieve the required appearance and durability.

• Inspect completed furniture and components to identify defects, inconsistencies, or dimensional issues and complete adjustments or repairs as required.

• Work with production and design teams to support customised furniture projects and ensure products meet specified design and functional requirements.

• Operate and maintain woodworking tools, machinery, and production equipment in accordance with workplace safety procedures.

• Assist with the repair, modification, refurbishment, and improvement of existing furniture and hospitality equipment where required.

• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe production area and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.

• Follow production schedules and work efficiently to meet required quality and delivery standards.

Skill & Experience

Qualifications / Attributes

• Must hold a Certificate IV in Furniture Making, Cabinet Making, Woodworking, or a related field, or at least three (3) years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualification.

• Must possess at least one (1) year of relevant work experience as a Furniture Maker, Cabinetmaker, or in a similar furniture manufacturing role.

• Demonstrated experience fabricating and assembling freestanding furniture using timber, veneers, laminates, and engineered wood products.

• Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, work orders, and measurements.

• Proficiency in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, woodworking machinery, and associated production equipment.

• Strong understanding of furniture construction, joinery, assembly, finishing, and repair techniques.

• High attention to detail with a strong focus on precision, workmanship, presentation, and product quality.

• Ability to work with customised designs and produce furniture to specific functional and aesthetic requirements.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and rectify production or assembly issues.

• Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet production deadlines.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a production and design team.

• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety and maintaining a clean and organised production environment.

Salary Range

$75,000 – $95,000 per annum excluding superannuation.
