Job Description

Placed.au is looking for a full-time Painter for our client in Moorebank, New South Wales. This role is responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paint and protective finishes, completing decorative treatments, and ensuring high-quality painting and decorating work across a range of projects.

Key Responsibilities

Job Description

• Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to buildings, equipment, and other structures using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.

• Fill cracks, holes, gaps, and joints using appropriate materials such as caulk, putty, and plaster.

• Protect surrounding structures and surfaces using drop sheets, masking tape, and paper during painting activities.

• Smooth surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, and sanding machines.

• Review work orders and specifications and follow instructions from supervisors or clients to determine project requirements.

• Apply primers and sealers to prepare surfaces such as bare wood and metal for finishing coats.

• Set up ladders and temporary equipment required to safely perform work above ground level.

• Mix and match paint, stain, and varnish colours to achieve the required colour and consistency.

• Estimate material requirements and calculate quantities and costs based on surface measurements and work orders.

• Polish final coats to achieve specified finishes.

• Prepare surfaces by washing, treating, sanding, stripping, wire brushing, burning, or abrasive blasting as required.

• Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electrical switch covers before painting to protect them from damage.

• Apply sealants and protective coatings, including waterproofing and caulking.

• Apply decorative and textured finishes using techniques such as sponging, ragging, layering, and faux finishing.

 

Skill & Experience

Qualifications / Attributes

• Must hold a relevant Certificate III qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Must possess at least three (3) years of relevant work experience as a Painter or in a closely related painting and decorating role.

• Demonstrated knowledge of surface preparation, paint application, finishing, and decorative techniques.

• Ability to accurately mix and match colours and achieve required finishes.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Ability to interpret work orders, specifications, and instructions.

• Good knowledge of painting materials, tools, equipment, and safety procedures.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong organisational skills and ability to complete projects within required timeframes.

 

Salary Range

$75,000 – $95,000 per annum excluding superannuation.
