Job Title: Residential Care Officer
Salary range: $79,500 – $85,000 – depending on skills level and work experience + superannuation.
Job Closure date: 30 days

About the Role

On behalf of our client, an independent, not-for-profit aged care provider known as “the heart of country care,” we are seeking a dedicated Residential Care Officer. Our client proudly supports older South Australians in regional communities with safe, caring and inclusive living environments across residential aged care and retirement living. They are passionate about developing respectful, warm and genuine relationships where everyone is valued and everyone matters. We are looking for a Residential Care Officer who will help deliver quality care through mutual respect, empowering residents to make choices about their life, support and care.

Key Duties (paraphrased & detailed)

Documentation & Care Planning

  • Maintain accurate, current resident documentation including daily progress notes, thorough care assessments, and individualized care plans that reflect each resident’s preferences and needs.
  • Monitor and record any changes in residents’ physical, emotional, or cognitive condition, promptly reporting concerns to clinical staff to enable timely interventions.

Personal Care & Independence Support

  • Encourage residents’ independence by respectfully assisting with personal care tasks (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) strictly in line with their care plan.
  • Provide consistently high standards of care and support, helping residents maintain dignity and choice in all aspects of daily living.

Household & Environmental Duties

  • Make residents’ beds, ensure fresh clean linen is always available, and keep residents’ clothing stored neatly and organised.
  • Correctly return laundered clothing to appropriate residents’ rooms, maintaining a clean, safe, and homely environment.

Key Responsibilities

Meal & Nursing Assistance

  • Assist with meal service, supporting residents during mealtimes with feeding, hydration, and social engagement as required.
  • Help deliver specialised nursing care under supervision (e.g., medication prompts, mobility assistance, wound care support), following individual care plans.

Communication, Rights & Emotional Support

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, families, GPs, and allied health professionals to ensure prompt, courteous, and coordinated service delivery.
  • Uphold residents’ rights to privacy, confidentiality, choice, and decision-making always, and offer genuine emotional support and companionship.

Teamwork, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Engage proactively as part of the wider care team, building positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Support compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards and company policies; attend team meetings, training sessions, and identify personal learning needs.
  • Contribute to workplace safety initiatives, recognise and report potential risks or complaints, and follow all OH&S policies.
  • Adhere to relevant legislation, demonstrate EEO principles, and champion organisational policies and procedures.

Skill & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year full-time relevant experience in aged care or disability support.
  • Diploma or relevant qualification in Individual Support, Community Services, or Aged Care.
  • Satisfactory police check; valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
  • Up-to-date annual flu vaccination and full COVID-19 immunization.
  • Signed statutory declaration disclosing any serious overseas criminal history (if applicable).
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (within 5 years) – preferable.
  • Genuine team player with a commitment to long-term employment in a regional community setting.
